Whenever man degrades animals, he automatically degrades himself and fails to recognize nature.
Animal Instincts
Animals’ instincts provide them with a spontaneous knowledge of their environment and how to survive in it – and not just how to survive by the skin of their teeth…
Rather, the instincts provide animals with a spontaneous knowledge of how to survive joyfully in a way that enhances the quality of life for themselves and also for other species.
Animals also have an emotional nature. To some degree, they can pause in a moment of reflection and decide whether or not to follow a particular impulse.
Animals have a sense of Honor.
Man has a psychic existence which, like all animals, is fueled by an initial love of life.
Ideally, your impulses have always been your most trusted guideposts, urging you to actions designed to enhance the quality of life for yourself and for all other species.

Seth: “Whenever man degrades animals, he automatically degrades himself and fails to recognize nature. Animals’ instincts provide them with a spontaneous knowledge of their environment and how to survive in it – and not just how to survive by the skin of their teeth. Rather, the instincts provide animals with a spontaneous knowledge of how to survive joyfully in a way that enhances the quality of life for themselves and also for other species (underlined).
(9:35 p.m.) The cooperative endeavors that unite all species of every classification are largely ignored in your society, and the tales of survival of the fittest, competition, and the “brutal law of nature” are foisted upon them. Animals have instincts, that is true. Animals also have instincts. But they also have an emotional nature. To some degree, they can pause in a moment of reflection and decide whether or not to follow a particular impulse. Animals have a sense of Honor.
(Pause) Man has a psychic existence which, like all animals, is fueled by an initial love of life. Your experience, however, provides you with an infinitely larger (pause) reservoir of impulses that serve as the impetus for action, arising directly from the original life impulse with which you were born. Ideally, your impulses have always been (pause) your most trusted guideposts, urging you to actions designed to enhance the quality of life for yourself and for all other species. You must understand that, of course, you also have an impulse toward reason, toward the use of logic, so I am not speaking only of the intuitive qualities as they are usually called. For example, man had the impulse to make tools. Spontaneity has its own order. Until now, man has not trusted his spontaneity and believed it to be completely unordered.
He was trying out his conscious mind. In a way, as Ruburt said last night (pause), he felt he had to impose an order on nature – of course, by first psychically removing himself from the context of nature, which is an impossible undertaking, but a concept he found downright fascinating – a psychological maneuver to see where it would lead.
